Now onto the News, Rumors, and Commentary…

“Playing lots of plays against Florida International really helped the offense. Texas Tech’s defensive players are increasingly confident in the system and in their ability to make plays. Texas Tech’s tight ends are so big that they’re always open, even when they’re covered. Running back is a rhythm position, meaning that guys get better the more they play.”

“This unit was solid for the Red Raiders and it was good to see the week before heading into conference play where you won’t get away with feeding one guy the ball the entirety of the game. Neither one of the backs went over 50 yards, but with the passing game going the way that it was it was nice to see that four different guys broke pretty long runs for the offense. It was good to see the pass protection improve in a big way this week. I’m hoping that this is sort of what this offense will look like going forward, with the running game also being a bigger part of the offense.”

“Texas Tech had a lot of questions coming into this game against FIU. Tyler Shough was absolutely phenomenal this week and needs to continue this play if Tech has bowl game aspirations. Who will step up besides Erik Ezukanma? Tech really needed someone else to step up in the receiving game. Now Tech goes into conference play with confidence and an offense that looks completely revamped.”
