How to Play Red Door Roulette and Gameplay Features

Red Door Roulette is an innovative live casino game that combines elements of Lightning Roulette and Crazy Time. Developed by Evolution Gaming, this game offers a unique blend of traditional roulette gameplay and thrilling bonus rounds. In this comprehensive guide, we will walk you through the rules, gameplay features, and strategies to enhance your Red Door Roulette experience.

Introduction to Red Door Roulette

Red Door Roulette takes the classic game of roulette to new heights by incorporating exciting bonus elements inspired by Crazy Time. The game features a European roulette wheel, additional multipliers, and the chance to enter a special bonus round through the iconic red door. This combination of elements creates a dynamic and engaging gaming experience.

How to Play Red Door Roulette

The Basics of Red Door Roulette

The objective of Red Door Roulette is to predict the number on which the ball will land by placing bets on the roulette table. The wheel includes numbers 1 to 36 and a single zero. Players can place various types of bets, each with its own payout rate.

To participate in the bonus game, a win on a straight-up bet is required. The straight-up bet pays 19:1, slightly lower than traditional roulette to account for the additional bonus features.

Placing Your Bets

At the start of the game, players place their chips on the betting grid. You have 20 seconds to place your bets, which can cover:

  • Single Numbers (Straight-Up) - $.20 - $100 (19:1-3,999:1 payout)

  • Splits (Two Numbers) - $.20 - $500 (17:1 payout)

  • Streets (Three Numbers)  - $.20 - $750 (11:1 payout)

  • Corners (Four Numbers) - $.20 - $1,000 (8:1 payout)

  • Lines (Six Numbers) - $.20 - $1,500 (5:1 payout)

  • Columns/Dozens (Twelve Numbers) - $.20 - $3,000 (2:1 payout)

  • Red/Black, Even/Odd, High/Low (Eighteen Numbers) - $.20 - $5,000 (1:1 payout)

The Slot Machine and Keys

Once betting time has expired, the dealer activates a slot machine located next to the red door. The slot machine reels stop to reveal a random Bonus Number (ranging from 3 to 15) and a Key symbol. The number of keys corresponds to the revealed Bonus Number.

These keys are then randomly assigned to numbered bet spots on the roulette grid through a colorful animation. Some keys may also reveal multipliers ranging from 2x to 20x.

The Results of the Roulette Spin

After the keys and multipliers are assigned, the dealer spins the roulette wheel. The ball eventually comes to rest in one of the numbered pockets. Here's how the results determine your winnings:

  • Winning Number with No Multiplier: If the ball lands on a number you bet on, you win 19:1.

  • Winning Number with a Key: If the ball lands on a number with a key and you bet on it, you enter the bonus round.

  • Winning Number with a Key and Multiplier: If the ball lands on a number with a multiplier and you bet on it, the multiplier is applied to the bonus round.  It amplifies the Wheel payout.

The Bonus Round: Crazy Time

The bonus round begins when the ball lands on a number with a key, and you have placed a bet on that number. The dealer opens the red door to reveal the Crazy Time bonus wheel.

Crazy Time Bonus Wheel

The Crazy Time bonus wheel features 64 segments, including various multipliers and 'DOUBLE' segments. If a multiplier was assigned to the Bonus Number, all multipliers on the Crazy Time wheel are multiplied accordingly.

The dealer spins the wheel, and when it stops, the flapper indicates the winning segment:

  • Multiplier Segments: The indicated multiplier is applied to your winnings.

  • DOUBLE Segment: All multipliers on the wheel are doubled, and the wheel is spun again.

This process continues until the wheel stops on a non-'DOUBLE' segment, and the final multiplier is applied to your bet.  The lowest possible multiplier is 20x and this can go all the way up to 4,000x.

Red Door Roulette Strategies

There are no unique strategies with Red Door Roulette as the game is basically the same thing as Roulette, but the payouts for the individual numbers are lower to make up for the amplified payouts behind the Red Door.  If you play the numbers, just play them as if you are playing Roulette normally.  No need to change your approach here beyond understanding that your selections may need to be pared down.

Red Door Roulette - Should You Play It?

Ask yourself the following questions and you will eventually come to an answer:

  1. Do I play the numbers in Roulette?

  2. Am I looking for a more high volatility version of Roulette?

  3. Do I have a bankroll to stomach the potential swings?

If the answer is 'Yes' to all three, then Red Door Roulette will scratch that itch for you.  The RTP on the numbers straight up is 97.09% (97.30% RTP for ordinary European Roulette) and is consistent with Roulette for all other wagers.

So if you said 'No' to any of these three questions, this is not the game for you and that's fine.  Ordinary Roulette is a perfectly fine choice as opposed to this more volatile version of the game.
