How to Play Crazy Time and Gameplay Features

Crazy Time is an exhilarating live casino game that combines elements of a money wheel and interactive bonus rounds. Developed by Evolution Gaming, it brings the thrill of a game show to online casinos. In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into the rules, strategies, and unique features of Crazy Time to help you get the most out of your gameplay experience.

Introduction to Crazy Time

Crazy Time is a unique and entertaining live casino game that draws inspiration from the classic Big Six wheel. The game features a large vertical wheel with 54 segments, each offering different payouts and bonus opportunities. The hosts and the game's interactive nature make it a favorite among casino enthusiasts and streaming content creators.

Understanding the Crazy Time Wheel

The Crazy Time wheel is the centerpiece of the game. It consists of eight different sections where players can place their bets:

  • 1 (light blue): 21 segments  (96.08% RTP)

  • 2 (yellow): 13 segments (95.95% RTP)

  • 5 (pink): 7 segments (95.78% RTP)

  • 10 (purple): 4 segments (95.73% RTP)

  • Coin Flip (blue): 4 segments (95.70% RTP)

  • Pachinko (fuchsia): 2 segments (94.33% RTP)

  • Cash Hunt (green): 2 segments (95.27% RTP)

  • Crazy Time (red): 1 segment (94.41% RTP)

Placing Bets in Crazy Time

Players have 15 seconds to place their bets before each round begins. Bets can be placed on the numbers (1, 2, 5, or 10) or on the four bonus games (Coin Flip, Pachinko, Cash Hunt, and Crazy Time). Each segment offers different payout rates, with higher numbers and bonus games providing larger potential returns.  You can place a wager as low as $.1 for each segment.  As far as maximum wagers are concerned:

SegmentMaximum Wager
1$1,000
2$1,000
5$750
10$500
Coin Flip$250
Pachinko$125
Cash Hunt$125
Crazy Time$100

The Role of the Top Slot

Above the main wheel is the Top Slot, which adds an exciting twist to each round. The Top Slot consists of two reels: one displaying the bet spots (numbers and bonus games) and the other showing multipliers. Before the wheel spins, the Top Slot spins and may align to apply a multiplier to a specific bet spot. If the wheel lands on that spot, the winnings are multiplied accordingly.  Top Slot multipliers are between 2x and 50x and not every round will have a Top Slot multiplier for a given wheel segment.

Crazy Time Bonus Rounds

Crazy Time features four distinct bonus rounds that significantly enhance the gameplay and potential winnings. Here's a closer look at each one:

Cash Hunt Bonus Game

The Cash Hunt bonus game features a giant wall with 108 random multipliers hidden behind various symbols. Players select a symbol within the allotted time or let the game choose for them. Once the selection is made, the symbols reveal the hidden multipliers, and the player's winnings are determined.  If it reminds you of any particular game in popular culture, think of Punch-A-Bunch from The Price is Right game show.

The individual prizes are revealed to the viewers before they are shuffled up and the locations are determined by a Random Number Generator (RNG).  The player has control of their own destiny as the same multiplier location opportunities are afforded to all players.  For example, if a player chooses the coordinates (5,5) and another player chooses the same coordinates, they will both receive the same multiplier.

There is absolutely no strategy to picking a symbol on the board in Cash Hunt, but a player would probably want to choose their own symbol/location rather than let the system pick one for them.

Pachinko Bonus Game

Pachinko is inspired by the ultra-popular Plinko from The Price is Right game show.  When activated, a large Pachinko board with 16 random multipliers at the bottom is revealed. The host drops a puck from the top, and it bounces off pegs until it lands on a multiplier. If the puck lands on a "double" or "triple" slot, the multipliers are increased, and the puck is dropped again, potentially leading to substantial winnings.  These "double" and "triple" slots can be re-triggered, so this could mean multiple puck drops and even larger multipliers.

The Pachinko board is not mechanical, the pegs that show up on the board are not actual physical pegs that emerge from the board.  This game is actually pure RNG, the puck goes in the direction dictated by the RNG to eventually land in a slot.  The multipliers and puck drop location are all determined by RNG.

So yes, there is some sort of a magnetic force dictating the movement of the puck.  It's all randomized movement.  Unfortunately, Evolution does not clearly explain this to the viewer and it spawns conspiracy theories.

Coin Flip Bonus Game

The Coin Flip bonus game is straightforward but exciting. A coin with two sides, each displaying a different multiplier, is flipped by a machine called the Flip-O-Matic. The multiplier on the side that lands face up is applied to the player's bet. Multipliers can range from 2x to 100x, making this a thrilling and rewarding bonus round.  There is a Rescue Flip in the case of a low-value multiplier coming up (2x or 3x), but these are not common.  There is a high side and a low side, the high side is from 7x-100x and low side is from 2x-5x.

Crazy Time Bonus Game

The Crazy Time bonus game is the highlight of the game and only available on one segment of the wheel. When triggered, players are taken to a separate game area with a giant wheel featuring 64 segments, each with various multipliers, "double" and "triple" slots. Players choose one of three flappers (green, blue, or yellow), and the host spins the wheel. The segment the flapper lands on determines the player's multiplier. If it lands on a "double" or "triple," the multipliers are increased, and the wheel is spun again, potentially leading to massive payouts.

Crazy Time is a pure RNG bonus game and the wheel is obviously computer generated.

Crazy Time Strategies

There are a number of ways to approach Crazy Time and everyone has their own strategy.  What is not recommended is the common streamer/YouTuber strategy of betting only on the bonus games, this is just perilous and foolish.

Machine Learning Strategy

Much like Sweet Bonanza Candyland, Machine Learning methods can be used to determine which segments to choose and when to enter bets at all.  Interestingly, Evolution in the game results API has the name of the individual host, which can be helpful with determining how a particular host spins a wheel and if they experience pseudorandomness with their spins.

To implement this strategy, access the game's API to collect data and create your own machine learning model using programming languages like Python and libraries such as Scikit-Learn. However, it's crucial to extensively test any model before using it with real funds. Start by testing with a small amount based on the prescribed strategy from the machine learning model.

It is tougher to create a Crazy Time model than a model for Monopoly Live or Sweet Bonanza Candyland, but it can be done.

Everything But 1 Strategy

  • 2:  4 units

  • 5:  2 units

  • 10:  2 units

  • Bonuses:  1 unit each

What this strategy accomplishes is simply refunding the player on a 2 and 5, on a 10 it results in a 10 unit profit, and on the bonuses it would depend on the outcome of each bonus round.  Of course, with a Top Slot multiplier there is an opportunity for much larger winnings.

The risk with this strategy is incredibly obvious, the 1 is the most common segment on the wheel.  This affords 61.11% wheel coverage.

It requires 12 units, which means that you will need at least $1.20 to play this strategy on a per spin basis.

RTP Friendly Strategy

Why not select a strategy that is RTP friendly rather than chase after lower RTP plays?  Top Slot Multipliers can still be had with this approach.  Is it as fun as playing the higher risk strategies?  Probably not, but winning money is not about winning style points.

  • 1:  6 units

  • 2:  4 units

  • 10:  1 unit

  • Cash Hunt:  1 unit

What this strategy does is allow for 1 and 2 to neutralize losses for other wagers should they hit and it still leaves them available to make profit in the case of a Top Slot multiplier.  10 has a better RTP than Coin Flip and the same probability of landing.  Cash Hunt has a slightly lower RTP, but it is still appreciably larger than Pachinko and Crazy Time and enables the player to get a larger return than in a Coin Flip.  The risk is obviously the 5 being exposed and the fact that landing a 10 would result in a 1 unit loss, but it beats the alternative of a Coin Flip that is less than 10x and these outcomes have a tendency to happen.  A Top Slot multiplier on the 10 can easily lead to a win that will make you want to leave the game immediately and vault/withdraw winnings.

The coverage for this strategy is 74.07% of the wheel.

RTP Friendly, Less Coverage Strategy

Want a better RTP play with more opportunities to profit?  This one is for you.

  • 1:  5 units

  • 5:  2 units

  • 10: 1 units

  • Coin Flip: 1 units

  • Cash Hunt:  1 units

This strategy has less coverage than the previous strategy as it leaves the 2 exposed, but the two most RTP friendly bonus games are at your disposal and so is the 5.  The 1 would result in a breakeven, the 5 would result in a 2 unit profit, the 10 would result in a 1 unit profit, Coin Flip and Cash Hunt will depend on the outcome of the bonus game.

The coverage for this strategy is 70.37% of the wheel.

Conclusion

Crazy Time is an engaging and thrilling live casino game that offers players a unique combination of a money wheel and interactive bonus rounds. With its vibrant presentation and the potential for substantial payouts, Crazy Time has quickly become a favorite among casino enthusiasts. By understanding the game mechanics, utilizing effective betting strategies, and managing your bankroll, you can enhance your Crazy Time experience and increase your chances of winning.

Okay, We're Not Actually Finished - Let's Talk Conspiracy Theories

"The Wheel is Rigged"

This one is unfortunately popularized by our friends in the streaming/video space and problem gamblers seem to believe it is real.  Let's consider that this is a game where the odds are already not in the player's favor.  It's not exactly favorable compared to other live game shows from different providers, for instance, Treasure Island offers better RTP (96.56%) and bonus games that are considered middle of the road such as Wild Collector, Great Scavenger, and Ben's Lost Marbles can easily outpace any of the bonuses in Crazy Time.  Crazy Time is a volatile game.

Many believe that there are brakes, controllers, motors, and other shenanigans with the wheel.  This is simply not the case.  Crazy Time's flapper can be an issue and this leads to inconsistency in the wheel across sessions.  Sometimes, the flapper is tight and other times it is quite loose.  It really depends and this is about the wear-and-tear on the wheel and the game.  There's a Crazy Time A for a reason and that is because the wheel or other bonus game features require maintenance.  Crazy Time has been around since July 2020 and it is the franchise property of Evolution Gaming, it is the most popular live casino game show in the world at this time and the demand for the game being available necessitates Crazy Time A existing.

Casino Gambling is a heavily regulated and audited industry and Evolution releases the results of their spins in their API in real time, players can audit the results themselves and they will find it lines up with the probabilities quite well over a long term period.

Most of the claims of the wheel being rigged come from players employing high risk strategies and hoping to win 1000x multipliers.  There's a great deal of delusion and setting expectations properly is important.  Many of these players are problem gamblers, don't take advice from problem gamblers.  If the game was rigged then they should just play the more conservative numbers on the board, but they do not make adaptations because they want to someone to blame for their own shortcomings.

Evolution Gaming does not do themselves any favors by not improving communications, maintenance, and engineering.  They actively feed into the conspiratorial thinking.

"The Pachinko Puck Fell Through"

This is an error.  The game is pure RNG with a physical prop.  There are no mechanical elements to this game.  So when an issue like this comes up as stated before, it's a technical issue with getting the puck connected with the board to land in one of the specified spots.

"Coin Flip Doom Switch" and "What's the Deal with the Wait with Coin Flip?"

Coin Flip is a rather quick game and timing does seem to be a little strange between production and the host.  Are they out to doom you out in the open like that?  No.  There's no micromanagement going on here.  It's all randomized from the flip strength to the high/low side multiplier values.  Weightings can still apply to RNG and there are heavier weights toward lower multipliers than higher multipliers when assigning values to each side of the coin.

"Crazy Time and Crazy Time A are Different"

Crazy Time A has more glitter in the set pieces than Crazy Time.  Let us examine.

Crazy Time A

Crazy Time

See!  No glitter with Crazy Time.  Just compare the Coin Flip signage and the red wall on the right hand side in both images.  Beyond the hosts, number of players, and the use of glitter there is no difference between the two.
